Champagne Pierre Paillard, Les Terres Roses XVIII, Extra Brut Rosé, Bouzy Grand Cru 750ML

The pale pink color of this rosé hints to a well-structured wine with pure aromatics. Notes of mineral and Iris blossom are followed by aromas of raspberry and red currant plus fresh-squeezed grapefruit and mandarin orange. There is a tantalizing interplay between acid and fruit, both red and white. The finish is long, lasting and succulent.

68% Chardonnay, 32% Pinot Noir (5% Bouzy Rouge)

92pts Decanter "A serious, elegant rosé Champagne with a creamy, toasty nose. It's full and voluptuous in the mouth, with rich buttery brioche characters. As the palate evolves, the wine's freshness comes through, sweeping in with lemon and grapefruit underpinning that cherry and almond frangipane richness with tense power. A light hint of Battenberg cake emerges on the finish. With 11ha in the Bouzy terroir, well known for exceptional Pinot Noir, brother Antoine and Quentin actually have a high proportion of Chardonnay vines for this area, and this wine unusually is majority Chardonnay (65%), with the remaining Pinot Noir, 5% of which is red wine. They put a lot of fuss into the health of their soils, and they farm organically."

Bouzy is located in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, a renowned Grand Cru for Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The Paillard family settled here in the early 18th century. Either generations later, they have become an independent Family House, ambitious in its vine-growing expectations. Respect of the soil, control of the yields, vilification per plot and long aging are the important characteristics of the wines and the motivations behind their daily work.

All of their champagnes are produced from their grapes grown on one of the most prestigious Grand Cru terroirs in Champagne: Bouzy. Their vineyards make up 11 hectares (28 acres), composed of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay.
