La Gerla Brunello di Montalcino 2015 Magnum 1.5L

La Gerla Brunello di Montalcino is known and valued for its special elegance and pleasant aromas; extremely aromatic, soft and velvety to taste, aged in the bottle for at least eight months.

95pts Robert Parker's Wine Advocate "Now we're talking. I tasted the 2015 Brunello di Montalcino after tasting the other samples from La Gerla, and it's amazing how clearly and convincingly that brawny Brunello character comes through. This is a robust and precise wine that shows dark berry fruit, red currant, spice, licorice and grilled herb. I love the way that all that beautiful Sangiovese intensity comes together with immediate focus and clarity."

94pts Wine Spectator "Black cherry and black currant fruit is accented by tobacco, earth and mineral flavors in this sleek yet dense red. Balsamic elements of juniper, thyme and olive add depth as this cruises to a long finish. The potential lies in the excellent length. Best from 2023 through 2042."

93pts James Suckling "Lots of raspberry coulis, dried redcurrants and red-plum compote here. The medium-to full-bodied palate has fleshy and succulent appear with juicy tannins and a fruit-forward finish. Drink now or hold."

Located 320 meters (1,050 feet) above sea level, on the gentle slopes below Montalcino, La Gerla is a small wine estate that has established itself as one of the great crus in this territory in the heart of Tuscany, delineated by the Orcia and Ombrone valleys. The farmhouse, with the characteristic name "Colombaia" was once the property of the Biondi Santi family. The used it to make one of the best Brunellos in the area. Sergio Rossi, the current owner, purchased the property in 1976 and restructured it with care and attention to detail. Not long afterwards, in 1978, he created the trademark La Gerla.
