Barry Bonds is a former professional baseball player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest hitters in the history of the sport. He was born on July 24, 1964, in Riverside, California. Bonds played in Major League Baseball for 22 seasons from 1986 to 2007.
Bonds began his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates, where he played from 1986 to 1992. He quickly established himself as a talented player, earning multiple All-Star selections and winning two National League Most Valuable Player awards during his time with the Pirates.
In 1993, Bonds signed with the San Francisco Giants, where he would spend the remainder of his career. It was with the Giants that Bonds truly cemented his legacy as one of the greatest players of all time. Bonds is perhaps best known for his remarkable power hitting and his ability to hit home runs. He holds the MLB records for both the most home runs in a single season (73) and the most career home runs (762). He surpassed Hank Aaron's previous record of 755 home runs on August 7, 2007.
In addition to his home run records, Bonds also holds several other notable records and accomplishments. He is the all-time leader in walks (2,558) and intentional walks (688). He won a total of seven MVP awards, the most in MLB history. Bonds was also an exceptional defensive player, earning eight Gold Glove Awards for his outfield play.
