Lord Frederic Leighton "Flaming June"

LORD FREDERIC LEIGHTON

Flaming June

Frederic Leighton, 1st Baron Leighton, PRA, known as Sir Frederic Leighton between 1878 and 1896, was a British painter, draughtsman and sculptor. His works depicted historical, biblical, and classical subject matter in an academic style.

Flaming June, painted with oil paints in 1895 on a 47-by-47-inch square canvas, is widely considered to be Leighton's magnum opus, showing his classicist nature.
